First lady Melania Trump’s outfits have long been a source of both outrage and obsession.

The ultra-private first lady’s public wardrobe ranges from more muted looks, that match her reserved personality, to punchy statement pieces that better fit her husband’s Truth Social feed.

Most recently, Trump made headlines and garnered attention for wearing a Mantilla — a veil-like garment typically worn by devout women to Catholic Mass — to Pope Francis’ funeral on April 26.

Seated alongside husband President Donald Trump at the service for the late pontiff, many learned that the first lady is the first practicing Catholic since Jacqueline Kennedy.

Like predecessor Michelle Obama and Kennedy Onassis before her, the first lady has captured the public’s imagination with her exploration of fashion. However, much of what Trump wears is bought off the rack.

As the president’s second term in office passes the 100-day mark, here is a closer look at the first lady’s lookbook.

Inauguration Day: Melania Trump wore viral hat to inauguration

For her daytime Inauguration Day outfit on Jan. 20, Trump opted for a more understated ceremonial look compared to her eye-popping 2017 Jackie Kennedy-inspired powder blue outfit.

She sported a matching dark navy blue coat and skirt with a matching wide-brimmed hat that covered her eyes, matching heels and gloves designed by American designer Adam Lippes.

During inaugural festivities, her eyes were largely covered by the oversized hat which included a large, white stripe.

Trump often wears hats at official events, including a statement white hat during the French president’s visit in 2018.

Inaugural ball: Melania Trump donned dress with zig zag detail

During the nightly inaugural festivities celebrating her husband, Trump wore a white dress with a black zig zag detail designed by her personal stylist Herve Pierre.

“It was such an honor to create the dress for the First Lady Melania Trump tonight.. I can’t thank her enough… it was a wonderful project, a great collaboration… as always,” Pierre wrote on Instagram.

National Prayer Service: Melania Trump turned heads in signature all-black look

The morning after Inauguration Day, the Trumps attended the National Prayer Service at the Washington National Cathedral alongside Vice President JD Vance and his wife, second lady Usha Vance.

In her first official outing during her second stint as first lady, Trump wore a simple black outfit with a matching jacket, dress, stilettos and sunglasses.

Melania Trump Take It Down Act ensemble featured monochrome tan suit

On March 3, Trump used her first public comments since her husband’s inauguration to speak out about the publication of non-consensual sexually explicit images, saying the consequences for victims are “heartbreaking” and calling the online atmosphere “toxic.”

“It’s heartbreaking to witness young teens, especially girls, grappling with the overwhelming challenges posed by malicious online content, like deepfakes,” Trump said.

She was joined on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., by lawmakers and victims of digital abuse in support of the Take it Down Act, which was unanimously passed by the Senate in February and the House on April 28.

She wore a tailored, three-piece tan pantsuit with a cropped waist coat, fitted pants and a matching blazer. Underneath the suit, she wore a traditional black tie and a white shirt.

Melania Trump wears Dior ensemble to joint session of Congress

Trump wore a dark gray Dior wool tweed ensemble in March to her husband’s address before a joint session of Congress.

The first lady was seated in the gallery and joined by Elliston Berry of Aledo, Texas, a victim of an AI-generated, sexually explicit “deepfake” image, and Haley Ferguson of Spring Hill, Tennessee, a former foster child who is the recipient of a scholarship instituted during Trump’s first tenure as first lady.

Melania Trump wears trendy butter yellow trench coat

For the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, Trump wore a butter yellow-colored trench coat. Butter yellow is one of the world’s trendiest colors in fashion this year.

The cream-colored, double-breasted jacket comes from Montreal-based brand Mackage. Trump took to X on April 21 to commemorate the day, in which she read a children’s book to younger White House guests.

“Today’s Easter Egg Roll was filled with family, joy, and tradition – a beautiful reminder that when we come together with open hearts, love and harmony truly shine. The White House’s South Lawn came to life and created cherished memories which will last for generations,” she wrote on X.
