Prince Harry’s U.S. visa application records are set to be released Tuesday, according to reports.
D.C. district court Judge Carl Nichols ordered the release of Harry’s immigration records after right-wing think tank The Heritage Foundation filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the Department of Homeland Security, according to British outlets The Times and Sky News.
USA TODAY has reached out to Harry’s reps for comment.
The Heritage Foundation is most recently known as the publisher and leader of Project 2025, a conservative federal policy guide mirroring many of President Donald Trump’s policies.
The group, which pushes for policies including mass deportation of undocumented immigrants, alleges the Duke of Sussex may have concealed past drug use that would have disqualified him from obtaining a U.S. visa, according to the outlets.
Prince Harry drug use discussed in memoir – but will it affect immigration status?
In Harry’s 2023 memoir “Spare,” the duke recalled a number of instances of smoking marijuana (he once “smoked an entire shopping bag of weed”), snorting cocaine and experimenting with psychedelics that contributed to his party-boy image in the 2000s.
The Department of Homeland Security, on the judge’s order, will release a redacted version of Harry’s application no later than Tuesday, according to court filings obtained by the outlets.
Trump has commented on the immigration status of Harry, 40, telling GB News in March 2024: “We’ll have to see if they know something about the drugs, and if he lied they’ll have to take appropriate action.”
The duke and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, infamously stepped back from their royal titles five years ago, taking residence in Canada and, later, California in June 2020. The couple and their two children, Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, currently reside in Montecito, California.
Meghan, an American, recently released Season 1 of her Netflix cooking and hosting show “With Love, Meghan,” and recently launched a new lifestyle brand, As Ever.
