Amy Poehler and an old pal from “Parks and Recreation” are going digging for their next comedy hit.

Poehler and “Parks and Recreation” co-creator Michael Schur are set to work together again for the first time since the acclaimed NBC sitcom ended a decade ago. On May 7, Peacock announced it has picked up a new series from Schur and Poehler called “Dig.” The pair are producing the show and co-writing the first episode together. Poehler will also star.

“Dig,” based on the Kate Myers novel “Excavations,” is described as a comedy series about four women working at an archeological dig in Greece who uncover “a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history,” putting them at the center “of a high-stakes international conspiracy.” No casting other than Poehler has been announced.

Among the series’ executive producers are Morgan Sackett and David Miner, both of whom previously worked as producers on “Parks and Recreation.”

Poehler starred as Leslie Knope, the deputy director of a local parks department in Indiana, for seven seasons on “Parks and Recreation” alongside Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott and more stars. The series ended in February 2015 with a finale co-written by Schur and Poehler. Poehler later reprised the role of Leslie Knope in a special pandemic episode that aired in April 2020.

Since then, Schur, who created “Parks and Recreation” with Greg Daniels, went on to create comedies like “The Good Place” and “A Man on the Inside,” both of which starred Ted Danson.

Meanwhile, Poehler has kept busy since “Parks” with parts including her lead voice role as Joy in the “Inside Out” franchise, and she reunited with Offerman for the NBC reality competition series “Making It” in 2018. In March, Poehler launched her own podcast, “Good Hang,” on which she has interviewed several of her past co-stars including Jones, Tina Fey, Paul Rudd.
